Strengthening an indigenous breed and supporting 30 farming families

In Northern Vietnam, Mr Trinh Van Tuan has built a poultry business that combines traditional values with modern farming practices. Starting from nothing in 2006, he began raising Lac Thuy chickens, a native Vietnamese breed known for its flavour and well‑balanced size. Over the years, his dedication and hands‑on learning shaped Tuan Chuyen Company into a sustainable and respected farm. Since partnering with De Heus in 2017, he has been able to improve productivity, reduce risks, and support a wider community of farming households.

A local breed at the heart of the farm

Lac Thuy chickens have always been central to Mr Tuan’s work. Their firm, flavourful meat and mild subcutaneous fat make them popular across Vietnam. From his very first flock, he focused on preserving the strengths of this indigenous breed while improving its commercial potential. Through careful management and continuous improvement, he turned a small start into a growing local enterprise.

Overcoming early challenges

The beginning was difficult. “The biggest challenge when I first started was having no money,” he explains. He borrowed where he could, accepted any job available, and slowly learnt the trade through trial and error. Despite these struggles, he remained determined to make his farming dream work. His resilience laid the foundation for what the farm has become today.

Choosing a reliable partner

As the farm expanded, Mr Tuan searched for a partner who could help him improve flock performance in a consistent and sustainable way. He chose De Heus in 2017, trusting the quality of the feed and the technical expertise behind it. “To achieve these results, I place great trust in De Heus animal feed,” he shares. “The chickens eat well, look healthy, and achieve high productivity.” He relies especially on feed products 7940 and 6942, which support strong growth and overall bird health.

Guidance that makes a difference

Feed alone was not the only support he valued. De Heus specialists helped with animal nutrition solutions, technical advice, and ongoing optimisation. This guidance allowed him to reduce risks, fine‑tune his processes, and build a more stable and efficient production model. The combination of high‑quality nutrition and practical support became a key driver of his farm’s progress.

“Thanks to high‑quality feed and technical support from De Heus, farmers in my value chain achieve high productivity and a better quality of life.”

Stronger performance and community impact

Results soon became clear. Thanks to their appealing appearance, stable weight, and rich flavour, Lac Thuy chickens from Mr Tuan’s farm are now enjoyed widely throughout Vietnam. He is proud of helping transform the breed from small household production into a more sustainable system.
One of his greatest achievements is the value chain he built. By connecting 30 farming households, he created stable jobs and reliable incomes for families in the region. Many have been able to buy land, build houses, and improve their living standards.

A vision for sustainable growth

Looking ahead, Mr Tuan aims to continue raising Lac Thuy chickens in a sustainable and responsible way. He hopes to reach more markets while maintaining the quality his farm is known for. With continued support from De Heus feed and specialists, he believes his value chain and community can keep growing stronger.
